Many years ago, I participated in a national jewelry show where the organizer pretty much accepted only jewelry companies - rows and rows of booths all selling sterling silver jewelry, fine jewelry, stones, beads and costume jewelry.
The show had a big following and lots of advertisement. I did okay, but not compared to the booth fee - another learning experience.
Then I thought, where can I book retail shows where I might be the only or one of the only jewelry vendors selling discount costume jewelry and discount sterling silver jewelry? I catered to women, so where could I find lots of women in one place?
So, here's where you can think out of the box. How about real estate offices? If you have a Realtor friend that works for an active office, call and see if you can visit them on preview day. Or better yet, offer to give them a small percentage proceeds to their favorite charity.
Also, think of the yearly garden show. That was one that worked pretty well for me. One time I did a show that catered to the sewing industry. Think of teacher conventions or going to schools during lunch breaks. This is just a small part of the possibilities for you. Get involved in fund-raisers where you might be the only vendor.
So, think of the places where your customer may be and try to book a show. This certainly helped my sales. Feel free to post other suggestions or comments or email me. Oh, and you can visit my wholesale jewelry online store - I sell to everyone with no minimum at www.JoJewelry.com.
